Chemical oxygen demand (COD) and ammonia nitrogen (NH4+-N) concentrations were measured using a water quality analyzer (YCNPN-4H, Shanghai Jinzhuang Instrument Co., LTD., China). The activities of PHE-degrading enzymes, including dioxygenase (DIO), 1-hydroxy-2-naphthalene formaldehyde (salt) hydroxylase (1H2N), and C12O, were assayed using specifc ELISA kits (Shanghai Huding Biotechnology Co., LTD., China), according to the manufacturer’s instructions. The corresponding enzyme activities were determined using a microplate absorbance reader (iMark, Bio-Rad, USA) at 450 nm.
