NK1.1 is a surface antigen that is expressed on the cell membrane as a disulfide-linked homodimer. It is also known as CD161 or Ly-55 and is encoded by the NKR-P1B/NKR-P1C gene. NK1.1 is primarily found on the surface of NK cells and NK-T cells in certain mouse strains, such as C57BL/6, FVB/N, and NZB, but not in AKR, BALB/c, CBA/J, C3H, DBA/1, DBA/2, NOD, SJL, and 1291.
