Globular adiponectin (gAcrp30), also known as globular adiponectin or gAdiponectin, is a biologically active form of the adipokine adiponectin that plays a key role in regulating metabolism, insulin sensitivity, and inflammation. In humans, adiponectin is predominantly produced by adipocytes and circulates in the bloodstream in different isoforms, including the globular form. gAcrp30 is generated by proteolytic cleavage of full-length adiponectin and exerts its biological effects by binding to adiponectin receptors, AdipoR1 and AdipoR2, leading to the activation of signaling pathways such as AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) and peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPAR-α). gAcrp30 has been shown to have anti-inflammatory, anti-diabetic, and cardioprotective properties, as well as the ability to regulate lipid metabolism and insulin sensitivity.
